Privacy Policy
Last updated
Mental Advocate is a static informational website. This policy describes what happens to information when you visit, written to describe the site as it actually operates.
What we collect directly
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses or contact details through this website. The Care Navigator on our homepage runs entirely in your browser: your selections are used to display suggestions on the page and are not transmitted to us or stored anywhere.
We do not hold health records
Mental Advocate is not a healthcare provider and is not a HIPAA covered entity. Do not send us clinical information about yourself or anyone else. Nothing you read or click here creates a patient record with us, and we do not receive information about whether you contacted, enrolled with, or were treated by any provider. If you follow a link to a provider or platform, any information you give them is governed by their policies, not this one.
Server logs
Our web server keeps standard access logs recording the IP address making a request, the page requested, a timestamp, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. These are used to operate and secure the site — diagnosing errors, identifying abuse — and are not used to build profiles of individuals. Logs are rotated and deleted on a routine schedule.
Cookies
Mental Advocate does not set cookies of its own for tracking or advertising. Third-party content described below may set its own.
Third-party content and advertising
Sections of this site are labelled Sponsored. Where those modules are supplied by an advertising or search partner, that partner may set cookies or use similar technologies and may collect information about your interaction with their content under their own privacy policy rather than this one. Where such a partner is in use, it will be named in this section.
Because this site covers sensitive health topics, it is worth being explicit: we do not sell information about you, we do not build or share audience segments describing your health interests, and we do not pass identifying information to treatment providers. Clicking a sponsored result may take you to a third party who will know you arrived from this site.
This site also loads a web font from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. That request is governed by Google's privacy policy.
Your choices
You can block cookies and scripts in your browser; the site remains readable and usable with them disabled. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you. Because we hold no account data, such requests will generally concern server logs only. Contact us via our contact page.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the site's data practices change — in particular if advertising, analytics or search partners are introduced. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
